AORN EXPO First Time Attendee Contest

If you have never attended the Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Annual Surgical Conference and EXPO (formerly known as AORN Congress),

THIS CONTEST IS FOR YOU!

Chapter 2601, The Greater KC Chapter of AORN, will award funds to help defray the cost of attending the AORN Surgical Conference and EXPO held from April 1-4 in San Antonio, Texas.  To enter, simply create a cover page and write a short essay about why you want to attend this premier surgical event.  The instructions are below.  Please email all completed applications to: enasche1@hotmail.com

Applications will be accepted through December 19, 2022

Cover Page:  Include name, title, address, employment status and location, and preferred contact information including email address and AORN membership number.

Essay:  The essay should be no longer than 2 pages, but no less than 1 page typewritten, double-spaced, size 12 font.  Please be creative, we want to know about you professionally, and why attending the AORN Surgical Conference and EXPO would be meaningful to you.  Consider including the following:

• When and why you decided to become an OR nurse, who influenced your decision?
• What do you like most about OR nursing?
• How do you think that attendance will affect your professional growth?
• What are your career goals over the next five years?
• How long have you been a member of AORN?
• What community activities have you or are you currently involved in?
• Are there any other professional organizations to which you belong or are currently a member of? 
• Any offices held?
• Educational background and certifications held?

This is not intended to be a complete list of what to include in your essay, but rather a starting point.  We want to get to know YOU so please include any pertinent professional information.  Should you be awarded winner of the contest, please be prepared to share your essay in January as well as sharing what you learned from the AORN Surgical Conference and EXPO at our April 2023 meeting.
